Consultation is coming to an end to view and provide feedback on a concept plan for the future development of Narambi Recreation Reserve in Mornington.

Community consultation is currently open and closes 5pm Friday 26 April 2019.

You can also join us at a drop in session this week on Thursday 11 April 2019 for an opportunity to speak with key project officers about the future design direction of the reserve.

The draft concept plan and report identifies a broad range of enhancements to Narambi Recreation Reserve, including:

  • an additional dual-use oval for AFL and cricket.
  • new multi-use pavilion.
  • two cricket nets.
  • the creation of a new hardcourt area and playspace.
  • access points to adjacent schools.
  • changes to the path network to improve pedestrian circulation around the reserve.
  • landscape improvements.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor David Gill said “the redevelopment, in conjunction with sporting clubs, key stakeholders and the community, will provide access to a range of active sports and passive recreation opportunities”.

Briars Ward Councillor Sam Hearn said “the Shire has been in regular conversation with key community groups and sporting clubs in Mornington to ensure the redevelopment is designed to accommodate the needs of its users”.

Briars Ward Councillor Rosie Clark said “we’re working to encourage increased participation in recreation across the peninsula and these improved sports facilities will allow better usability”.

Briars Ward Councillor Bev Colomb said “I am looking forward to hearing the views of the community on how we can improve this site and have a wonderful recreational space”.

Community consultation is an integral part of the design process and Council encourages the community to submit their comments on the draft plan.

Comments received from the public will be considered by Council to ensure the design meets the user groups and community needs.
