Election (Caretaker) Period

Mornington Peninsula Shire Council has now entered the Election (Caretaker) Period, until 6pm 26 October (Election Day). During this time, the Election Period Policy will be in effect to ensure that the election is conducted fairly, equitably, and ethically while allowing Council business to continue in a responsible and transparent manner.

Cr Hugh Fraser resignation

Cr Hugh Fraser, Nepean Ward resigned from Council on Tuesday 9 March.

Mornington Peninsula Shire CEO John Baker said It is disappointing Cr Fraser has chosen to resign at a very busy and exciting time for Council. "With so many new councillors elected at the last election, there has been an injection of new energy and new ideas, and a focus on new ways of doing things.

I’d like to thank Cr Fraser for his previous two terms as a Councillor for the Nepean ward and his significant contribution to the Mornington Peninsula Shire. We wish him well."

The Victorian Electoral Commission will now begin a countback process to fill the vacancy in the Nepean Ward. We expect to know more about the timing of this process in the coming days.
