Want to represent your community and help shape the future of the place where you live? Want to have your feedback and recommendations considered directly by Council?

Then keep an eye out for our 2023 Citizens’ Panel golden tickets (in pink envelopes) landing in the letterboxes of randomly selected households across the Peninsula today.

If you’re one of the lucky golden ticket holders, we encourage you to use the opportunity wisely and register your interest in becoming a 2023 panellist before Sunday 12 March 2023: mornpen.vic.gov.au/citizenspanel.

Our independent recruiter will then select 50 people who represent a cross section of the Peninsula’s population to join the panel. You don’t need a background in local government or any specific experience, just a willingness to listen, read the material we provide you and share your opinions.

Anyone 16+ who receives the invitation can apply and we’re happy to help with any technical, mobility, disability or language support.

Following the success of our 2022 Citizens’ Panel, Council will again be seeking panellists’ feedback on a range of difficult and challenging topics, to help them with their decision making.

The 2023 Panel will come together for eight sessions from April to November and each member will receive an $800 voucher to thank them for their time.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Steve Holland:

“As Councillors we have to deal with a lot of challenging and difficult decisions. It’s our job to make informed decisions on behalf of everyone. The feedback and opinions from our 2022 panellists provided Council with an additional set of insights that helped us with this process and we’re seeking new community voices in 2023 to continue the conversations.”

“You’ll get to meet Councillors, Shire officers and fellow community members in the process. It’s fun, engaging and most importantly, gives you a chance to contribute to the future of the Peninsula.”

“If you’re one of the lucky households who receive an invitation, I encourage you to take up the chance to be part of this unique forum.”
