Following the declaration by the Victorian government of a State of Emergency, the Mornington Peninsula Shire has decided as a part of public health measures to relocate the Tuesday 24 March Community Council meeting from the Peninsula Community Theatre in Mornington to the Council Chambers in Rosebud.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor Sam Hearn said "A live online stream that gives real time access to the meeting will be established and the community are being encouraged to access the meeting this way, and not to attend in person. This is one of a number of measures we are putting in place to protect our community in an effort to slow the spread of Coronavirus".

"At the same time as encouraging people to take sensible precautions advised by health departments such as this one, we also encourage people towards positive steps like checking on the wellbeing of neighbours and being intentional about the everyday actions you can be taking to help those around you in this challenging time.

“This prudent approach to Council meetings will remain in place until further notice and we will update our community as things unfold," concluded Cr Hearn.

The live stream can be accessed via the Council website mornpen.vic.gov.au/councilmeetings and will be in place for the Monday 23 March ‘Proposed 2020/21 Budget’ meeting commencing at 7pm, Rosebud Chambers.
