Blue Mini takes home Best Bites People’s Choice Award
Published on 11 May 2022
Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh has announced Blue Mini Café in Rosebud as the overall winner of the 2022 Best Bites People’s Choice Awards!
The Kitchen in Tootgarook and Homeground Café in Mornington also performed very well in these areas and were recognised as Highly Commended.
More than 45 customers nominated their favourite Best Bites food business.
A panel of independent judges from the Best Bites Steering Committee assessed the nominees based on how well their customers felt they performed in the Best Bites categories of: access and inclusion, healthy eating, sustainability and smoke free dining.
All of the winners and nominated businesses will be featured in the 2022 Best Bites Food Guide, published later this year.
The online guide lists local food businesses scoring more than 95 per cent in their food safety assessment and providing excellence across one or more of the Best Bites categories.
You can also see hundreds of Best Bites food businesses in the Best Bites Business Directory.
Does your business have the best bite?
Entries are now open! Nominate your food business to be in the running for the Best Bites Food Awards and be included in the Best Bites Food Guide for 2022–23.

All you need to do is meet the criteria in at least one of five areas to be included:
- healthy eating
- accessibility and inclusion
- energy and water efficiency
- waste management
- tobacco/alcohol management.
Entry is free for all local food businesses. Applications close Thursday 30 June 2022 to be included in the printed Best Bites Food Guide. Businesses can be part of the online guide at any time.
The printed guide will be available later in the year for distribution across the Mornington Peninsula and available to the local community and visitors over the peak summer holiday period.
As part of the Shire support program for local businesses, the Shire has reduced the food premises registration fees for those in the 2022–23 Best Bites Guide. Businesses can save around 20 per cent on their annual fees.
