Moorooduc: Bentons Road Upgrade - Moorooduc Highway to Derril Road
Mornington Peninsula Shire is currently progressing the design for the proposed road upgrade for Bentons Road in Moorooduc, between Moorooduc Highway and Derril Road.
Bentons Road functions as an important east-west local road corridor within the Peninsula. Based on this as well as the existing condition and layout of the road, this length of road has been identified as a high priority for upgrade under the Roads to Recovery Program.
Roads to Recovery is a Federal Government program that provides funding to Local Government for renewal and upgrade of roads.
The following works are proposed to assist with the upgrade of Bentons Road:
- Rehabilitation and resealing of the roadway;
- Widening of the roadway;
- Realigning of open drains in allowable areas;
- Removal of vegetation within the widened road footprint;
- Installation of kerb on both sides of the road; and
- Installation of guardrail in localised areas in which vegetation will be especially close.

This project is the third and final stage of the road network upgrade through this corridor. Stage 1 included the widening of Loders Road and Stage 2 included the construction of the roundabout at the intersection of Bentons Road and Derril Road.
Over the coming months a planning permit will be sought for the required vegetation removal to facilitate the road upgrade. Following the town planning process, it is anticipated that the works will commence within the 2019/2020 financial year.
