Hastings: Foreshore Masterplan Implementation
- Project typeOpen Spaces and Reserves
The Hastings Foreshore Masterplan builds on the foundations of the previous Hastings South Coastal Management Plan, Hastings Foreshore Precinct Plan, and the Mornington Peninsula Shire Arts and Culture Plan 2020 – 2024. The Masterplan has been developed with input from community, local and state stakeholders and the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation
Following adoption of the Masterplan earlier in 2023, the Project Team is now progressing with further planning and delivery of elements identified within the Masterplan. This project will focus on the Hastings Foreshore extending from Hastings South to the northern end of Fred Smith Reserve. Further planning for the Pump Track and Public Toilet will be reviewed.
The key areas prioritised for delivery this financial year include connected planting and seating areas, path and walking network improvements, improvements to the far northern car park and upgrading the exercise equipment. Concept Designs have been developed for the Northern Foreshore area and civil designs are progressing for the connecting footpath in the Northern area. A quotation process for construction works to deliver the fitness equipment will soon be released, with works to be completed early in 2025.
Concurrent to this, the concept design for the Flexible Events area is being developed, focusing on catering for differing scales of events from community markets to festivals and concerts. It will also provide the opportunity for everyday usage including existing clubs and user groups.
