The Shire recognised that the intersection of Myers Road and Hendersons Road in Bittern was an area that needed traffic improvements to make it safer.

Due to the high number of crashes near that intersection, the Shire was successful in obtaining funding through the 2020-21 Federal Blackspot Program.

Works which were undertaken include the construction of a compact roundabout, installation of raised platforms and improved lighting. The completed works aim to improve road safety at the intersection and reduce the potential of future crashes.

Construction commenced on site in late May 2022 with the project reaching practical completion in mid-July 2022.

A detailed lighting design was also conducted on the intersection to ensure the intersection is adequately lit. Construction of the lighting infrastructure was completed in mid-November 2022.
