As part of the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Towards Zero Road Safety Strategy that aims to improve road safety across the peninsula, an investigation of resident concerns occurred in Balnarring Beach. Ongoing concerns from the community have been received regarding the road safety in the vicinity.

Two treatments were proposed within the 40km/h speed zone,

  • a raised safety platform near the exit from the foreshore car park on Library Road
  • speed cushions at the existing chicane central island just south of Fethers Road on Balnarring Beach Road

Construction commenced on site mid-May, initially focusing on constructing the new kerb surrounding the gravel car park, upgrading the pavement, installing speed cushions, and constructing the raised safety platform.  All works have been successfully completed.
