Have Your Say: Disability Action Plan

Development of the Shire’s Disability Action Plan 2018-22 is currently under way.

We have sought community feedback since November - through face-to-face Have Your Say sessions, a survey, and a community forum - gathering information on how the Shire can work in partnership to enhance accessibility and inclusion for people with a disability.

The next step in the process is the development of a draft Disability Action Plan, scheduled to be presented to Council during April and May, and expected to be placed on public exhibition for four weeks between May and June.

Feedback will be incorporated at the end of this period, and it is anticipated that the final plan will go to Council for endorsement in mid-August.

Disability action plans enable councils to develop policies and practices that lead to greater participation of all residents; show leadership, vision and innovation that can lead to increased community cohesion and economic prosperity.

The development of the DAP is overseen by the Shire's All Abilities Consultative Committee.
