Working for Victoria – Briars Horticulture Officer
This role is a Temporary Full Time Role for 6-months, starting immediately.
Funding for the roles is through Jobs Victoria, Working for Victoria. Working for Victoria is part of the Victorian Government’s $1.7 billion Economic Survival Package announced in 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
About the role
The role of the Briars Horticulture Officer is to contribute to the daily operations of the Briars through enhancement of key horticultural sites, visitor infrastructure and agriculture assets. The position is accountable for the delivery of on ground works including but not limited to maintenance of park infrastructure, heritage gardens, pest plant control, providing horticultural advice and project planning, in addition to providing support to volunteer and visitor programs within the property.
The Briars site covers 230-hectares incorporating bushland, farmland and a State significant heritage precinct with 1840’s Homestead. Nine staff and over 50 volunteers maintain and develop the Briars, which welcomes over 180,000 people visit per year, making it one of the most visited destinations on the peninsula.
