Business Advice During Coronavirus for Health and Hygiene

Services and industries that are able to remain operational are required to have a COVID Safe Plan.

Employers that require their staff to attend a work site must issue a worker permit to their employees.

During restrictions, standard Food business requirements still apply.

Changing to takeaway and / or home delivery services:

There are no further Shire registration requirements needed for your Class 2 food business to provide takeaway or home food delivery. You will, however, need to have added appropriate content to your Food Safety Program and continue to comply with all the requirements of the Australia New Zealand Food Safety Code sections 3.2.2 and 3.2.3 of the National Food Safety Standards..

Be aware that the Victorian Government Stage 4 Restrictions prevent the community from travelling further than 5km from home, this applies to picking up takeaway as well.

Free training and advice for food businesses

Food businesses can access free online staff training in personal hygiene, food safety and allergen management to help protect staff and customers from food borne illness and Coronavirus. There are is also a range of training offered to all businesses to support them through COVID-19.

Business Victoria have provided Hospitality Industry Guidelines for Coronavirus to assist cafes, restaurants and other food service businesses to:

  • Implement a plan for their business to meet these guidelines as well as WorkSafe Victoria guidance
  • Maintain suitable hygiene and sanitising processes
  • Ensure physical distancing and personal protection
  • Display hygiene, physical distancing and wayfinding signage for customers and staff

Accommodation premises and caravan parks

During the Stage 4 Restrictions accommodation premises and caravan parks are unable to operate except where guest are permanent residents, emergency accommodation, or guests stay for work purposes only.

Health and hygiene precautions also apply to caravan parks and accommodation premises. Any items such as equipment and linen that are directly contacted by customers must be disposed of or thoroughly sanitised after each use.
