Competition Terms and Conditions

The Mornington Peninsula Shire Council (Council) is the promoter of this Competition as part of the Best Bites program.  The address of the Council is 90 Besgrove St, Rosebud, Victoria 3936 Australia (ABN 74 914 131 916).


1. By entering into the Competition, you (the Entrant) agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
2. Officers, employees and immediate families of officers and employees of the Council are ineligible to enter.
3. The Council’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the Competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
4. The Council reserves the right to alter, amend, cancel or otherwise deal with these terms and conditions and the Prize, including cancelling the Competition at any time and for any reason.


5. All entrants must be 18 years and over.
6. Entry to the Competition will be available from 9am, 1 December, 2022.
7. Closing date for entry to the Competition will be 11.59pm on 8 March 2023. After this time no further entries to the Competition will be permitted.
8. The Council will not be responsible for any technological or related failure to receive an entry.
9. In order to be a valid entry, all information on the entry form must be completed, including your response in 50 words or less. Entries that are more than 50 words will be considered invalid and will not be considered.

Winning Entry and Prize

10. The competition is a game of skill. The winner (Winner) will be determined from a panel of three judges (Panel). The Panel will review all responses in each category - cafe, restaurant, take away outlet. Each Panel member will independently select their top responses and the Panel will reach consensus regarding the winning entry.
11. The process for determining the winning entry will be entirely within the discretion of the Panel and no discussions will be entered into regarding the process, the selected Winner or the unsuccessful Entrant.
12. The Winner will be disclosed on 29 March 2023 at the Council office at the address.
13. The prize for each category is a voucher for gourmet food and products from Hawkes Farmgate, valued at $100 (or a prize to a similar and equal value) (the Prize).
14. The Prize is not transferrable for money or transferrable for any other gift.
15. Entrants are not required to be present for the draw.
16. The Winner will be notified in writing by Council as soon as possible after the winning entry is drawn.
17. The name of the Winner will subsequently be published on the Council’s website at prior to or on 4 April 2023.
18. The Winner will have until two weeks after the Winner’s name is published in which to claim the Prize. If the Prize is not claimed within that time, the Council reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to select another Winner in accordance with the Panel’s recommendation. 


19. The Winner agrees to their name being used for the purposes of advertising the winning entry.
20. Any personal information provided by the Entrant for the entry will only be used for purposes related to the Competition and/or the Best Bites program.
21. The Winner acknowledges and agrees that their name and image may be used in relation to Council’s promotion of the Competition and/or the Best Bites program.

Indemnity and Release

22. The Entrant (including the Winner) agrees to release and hold harmless Council and its employees, officers and Councillors from any and all claims and actions howsoever arising as a result of the Entrant’s entry into the Competition.
