Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet Flag Notification - State Memorial Service for Mr Shane Keith Warne – Wednesday 30 March 2022
A State Memorial Service for Mr Warne will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday 30 March 2022, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Brunton Avenue, Richmond, Victoria.

Australia marks the sad passing of cricketing great, Mr Shane Keith Warne 1969 – 2022. Mr Warne made his Test debut for Australia in 1992. A leg-spinner, he set a world record of 708 Test wickets which stood until 2007. He played his last Test in 2007 having taken more Ashes wickets than any other Australian or English player. He also played for his home state of Victoria, Hampshire in England, and the Rajasthan Royals as both captain and coach between 2008 and 2011. In 2011, he joined the Melbourne Stars for the inaugural season of the Big Bash League.

In 2000, Mr Warne received an Australian Sports Medal, for service to sport. In 2001, he was awarded the Centenary Medal, for outstanding service to the Australian and international sport of cricket. He was named one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the 20th Century and was inducted into the International Cricket Council Cricket Hall of Fame in 2013.

As a mark of mourning and respect and in accordance with the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council Flag Protocol, the Shire will fly all flags at our Rosebud, Mornington and Hastings Office at half-mast all day Wednesday 30 March 2022.

Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet Flag Notification - A State Memorial for the Honourable Andrew Sharp Peacock AC - Friday 11 February 2022
A State Memorial for the Honourable Andrew Sharp Peacock AC will be held at 11:00 am on Friday 11 February 2022, at St Paul’s Cathedral, corner of Flinders and Swanston Streets, Melbourne, Victoria.

Mr Peacock was elected in 1966 to the House of Representatives as the member for Kooyong. He served as the Minister for the Army from 1969 to 1972, the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister from 1969 to 1971, the Minister Assisting the Treasurer from 1971 to 1972, the Minister for External Territories in 1972, the Minister for Environment in 1975, the Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1975 to 1980, Cabinet Minister from 1975 to 1981, the Minister for Industrial Relations from 1980 to 1981, and the Minister for Industry and Commerce from 1982 to 1983.

Mr Peacock was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia in 1997 for his service to the Australia Parliament, to politics, and for the formulation and implementation of defence and foreign policy As a mark of mourning and respect and in accordance with the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council Flag Protocol, the Shire will fly all flags at our Rosebud, Mornington and Hastings Office at half-mast all day Friday, 11 February 2022.

Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet Flag Notification - State Memorial Service Victoria Police Officers - 3 February 2022
A State Memorial Service for the four Victorian Police officers who lost their lives in the Eastern Freeway tragedy will be held on Thursday 3 February 2022.

The Service will honour the legacies of Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Josh Prestney and Constable Glen Humphris.

As a mark of mourning and respect and in accordance with the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council Protocol, the Shire will fly all flags at our Rosebud, Mornington and Hastings Office at half-mast all day Thursday 3 February 2022.   

Flag Notification - Memorial Service for William Arthur (Bill) Goodrem OAM - 20 December 2021
A Memorial Service will be held for Bill Goodrem OAM at St Vincent's Catholic Church, Surfers Paradise, at 10.30 am (QLD time) on Monday 20 December 2021. 

Bill Goodrem served as a Shire Councillor on the Peninsula for 25 years. From 1987 to 1997, he served on the Flinders Shire Council and, after amalgamation from 1997 to 2012 on the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council, serving twice as Mayor. 

Often referred to simply as 'Mr Rye'. He was an active St Vincent de Paul member for the Rosebud/Rye area. He had a 25-year membership certificate for services to the Rye Fire Brigade and over 13 years - with Habitat for Humanity, building new homes for people in need. In addition, he also worked with local Peninsula youth groups and the Southern Peninsula Cancer Support Group. As a Rye Community Action Group member, he played a major role in its many projects, particularly the building and installation of the Community Playground on Rye Foreshore in 2013. 

In recognition of his extraordinary contribution, he was awarded the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. In 2020, Bill received the Medal of the Order of Australia – an OAM - for significant service to the Mornington Peninsula and Southport communities.

As a mark of mourning and respect and in accordance with the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council Protocol, the Shire will fly all flags at our Rosebud, Mornington and Hastings Office at half-mast all day Monday, 20 December 2021.

Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet Flag Notification – State Memorial Service for the Honourable Robert FitzGerald Cooper - 6 December 2021
A State Memorial Service for the Honourable Robert FitzGerald Cooper will be held at 11:00 am on Monday 6 December 2021, at Frankston Arts Centre, 27-37 Davey Street, Frankston, Victoria.

In 1985, Mr Cooper was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly as the Member for Mornington and was then immediately elected to the front bench, serving as Shadow Minister for Local Government and Public Works. In 1996, he was appointed as a parliamentary secretary before being promoted to the Ministry of Transport in 1997. Retiring from politics in 2006, Mr Cooper remained active in his local community on the Mornington Peninsula.
