Maternal & Child Health

Both Local and State Governments recognise parenthood as challenging and so provide this service for parents and carers of children from birth to six years. We contact you following discharge from the Maternity Service (hospital) and offer an initial home visit. The Maternal & Child Health Service is provided free of charge to you.

Children grow up fast. We can assist parents to assess their child’s health and development. Reviews are recommended when your child is:
– 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 8 weeks
– 4 months, 8 months, 12 months
– 18 months and 2 years
– 3 1/2 years including vision testing.

We offer information and advice on Immunisation, childhood illness, sleep and settling, accident prevention, infant feeding and more. View our section on Immunisation.
