Rubbish & Recycling

The Shire operates three Resource Recovery Centres (tips) that accept a comprehensive range of household wastes. The centre at Rye also accepts commercial quantities of waste.
Waste is collected every week. Recycling is collected fortnightly. Green waste is collected fortnightly - alternate week to recycling. Please place bins out before 6am on your collection day. Bins are emptied on all public holidays.
Residents living within the Mornington Peninsula’s urban areas can now sign up to receive a 240L bin kerbside green waste collection service for a fee. Bins will be collected from properties fortnightly, call us on 5950 1000 to order your Green Waste Bin.
The Shire provides an at-call green and hard waste collection service. Fees or vouchers apply and bookings are essential. Green and hard waste collection service can be booked by calling us on: 5950 1406.

Graffiti is the deliberate act of marking words or images on property without the permission of the owner. This section looks at graffiti removal, prevention and reporting and illegal rubbish dumping which is a criminal offence and can incur heavy penalties.

Asbestos of Domestic Origin Only can only be accepted at the Rye Resource Recovery Centre (Rye Tip) in 1/2 cubic metre per visit.
