As the Somerville Recreation & Community Centre remains closed until further notice due to fire, we continue to work closely with the community and user groups to re-establish a community and recreation centre on the site.  It is still too early to determine when the building will be re-opened, but we are working hard with the insurers and builders to determine options and timeframes for the reopening of the centre, and will work closely with key user groups throughout this process.  We appreciate the patience of the community, user groups and local residents while we work through alternative arrangements and towards rebuilding, as well as the support received from the broader peninsula community, local businesses and sporting associations.

Building update

The destroyed stadium portion of the building has been completely demolished and debris removed. The remainder of the building has been made safe and secure. The Shire continues to work with the insurers to plan for the rebuild of the stadium and the community services end of the building. The precinct immediately around the facility has been fenced off. The community is asked to please avoid the area for safety reasons.   An onsite security presence will be maintained.

Somerville Health & Fitness Studio

We are pleased to announce that we have secured 1/13 Eramosa Road West, Somerville to continue to deliver group fitness programs, all access programs, personal training and more! We invite all community members to come and try the new studio with our excited staff.  More info: 1300 850 197 or visit the Somerville Health & Fitness Studio page.

Skate park reopens

It is likely that the Skate Park will need to be fenced off once construction commences, and we will keep you up to date with this process and provide as much notice as possible of any required safety closures.

Stadium activities update

We continue to work closely with users of the stadium to find alternative locations.  All 26 key user groups have secured short-term alternative locations for their operations. We thank the user groups, as well as other groups and sporting associations that have offered facilities or equipment to support those who have been impacted. More info: contact your club or call 5950 1150.
