Health & Wellbeing Plan

Our Health and Wellbeing Plan ‘Health, Hope and Happiness II for 2013–2017 is the result of much research, consultation and analysis. Many of the themes and principles from the original Health Hope and Happiness plan are reiterated or enhanced in this update.

We seek to support and create opportunities and partnerships across the peninsula to facilitate healthy places and spaces, healthy lifestyle choices, active local communities, quality of life for all, and a sense of hope and belonging.

This plan continues the recognition of the broader view of environments for health beyond the mainstream and includes the cultural, spiritual and political influences on one’s health, as well as the personal and physiological. The plan focuses on the Mornington Peninsula as a happier, healthier and more hopeful place for all of us.

The background report provides context for how the plan was developed and identifies the key health and wellbeing issues affecting the Mornington Peninsula. It seeks to expand on key areas within our community, such as demographics, key partnerships, and identified health and wellbeing actions.

Responsible Gaming Strategy

Our Responsible Gaming Strategy focuses exclusively on gambling activities conducted with electronic gaming machines located in licensed hotels and licensed clubs (gambling venues) on the Mornington Peninsula.

The Responsible Gaming Policy aims to assist us to make informed decisions regarding offers of sponsorship or donations from gaming venue operators and gaming licensees (Tabcorp and Tattersalls) and that avoids perceived Shire dependency on revenue from gaming.
