Have your say on protecting our clean, green peninsula

clean-and-green.png Have your say on protecting our clean, green peninsula

The Shire is seeking your input about how we can help the community reduce carbon emissions and better prepare and cope with a changing environment.

Your feedback will help to shape an action plan.

Either take the survey and register your interest to attend a workshop, or attend a workshop on either 27 or 30 March 2017, to go in the running for 4 x $100 gift vouchers from either Peninsula Hot Springs, Arthurs Seat Enchanted Adventure Garden or Boneo Maze & Mini Golf.

Get involved:

  • Take the survey (like more than 150 residents have already) to 'have your say'
  • Register your interest to attend a fun, interactive workshop (where great food will be served!) on either 27 or 30 March 2017 to hear the results of this survey and discuss the key findings

Surveys can be completed until midnight on Friday 7th April, 2017.

More about the consultation

Last year, though the ‘Its Your Peninsula 2021’ consultation, the community told us that the two things it likes most about living on the Mornington Peninsula:

  • Its diverse natural assets – being beautiful beaches, the water, bay views and coastal scenery
  • That it is clean and green – the clean, natural beauty of the environment and landscape

Our community also told us that balancing the impact of development on the environment and protecting and maintaining a clean environment was the biggest current challenge for the peninsula. A further 92% said preparing and being prepared for extreme weather is important.

We want to take this feedback a step further and develop a plan on how we can work together to:

  • Protect our environment by reducing our impact on it (reduce carbon emissions); and
  • Prepare ourselves better for a changing climate and environment (adapt)

Everyone has a role in preserving the clean, green Mornington Peninsula lifestyle.

The Shire is already on track for a zero net carbon emissions target for 2021.

Help us work out how:

  • We can help you take action
  • We can partner with you to deliver key projects

What is going to help you the most – in your home, in your community?
